This new iteration retains the OG style's tumbled leather base while subtly changing up the lacestays and straps. The original metal eyelets fit for flat laces have been removed in favor of standard holes. As for the ankle strap, the upcoming pair gets more technical with metal buckles and nylon cords to craft a buckle system. Elsewhere, more obvious tweaks can be identified such as a black mesh tongue that sees an experimental label. But the most notable difference is the sole unit, which boasts a stacked look and a boot-like, rugged outsole appropriate for the approaching fall and winter seasons. This sole design has also just been revealed on a few upcoming AF 1 Low styles—perhaps we will see more winter-ready, utility-inspired remixes on some other silhouettes soon.
